Here is the second art book of Yasuji Mori!
Over 400 images of his illustrations have been put in to this art book, and we managed to show these illustrations in coloured pages, which covers over the half of this book.
All drawings in this book were not shown in the first art book, such as illustrations for magazines called A Little Child and Preschool Education, he also produced lots of illustrations for picture books of Cinderella, Thumbelina, Snow White, and the other Japanese folk tales.
There are also essays Mori wrote included in this book. Simply he wrote feedbacks on Walt Disney short films and work of Studio Ghibli. Also he wrote about his junior fellows he mentored, who were also his vital team mates of the period he worked for Toei Douga. (We are sorry there is no English translation for this essay)
The reason why we put this title for this book is because “Mogura Note” literally means ‘A Mole’s Note’ and he represents animators as mole. He was saying that moles are miserable because they live under dark holes without having sunshine on their skin, which reminds him animators working hard in a dark room with curtains are shut on the windows.
